Welcome to Home Economics 8
This year in Home Economics we will be introduced to some basic skills needed in the kitchen. We will be completing assignments, labs and projects on a number of topics including: sanitation and safety, nutrition, food preparation and menu planning. We will be using many formats to learn new things including individual and group projects, assignments, labs and tests.
The students will be able to:
- v describe the essential components of a nutritionally adequate diet
- v use recipes to prepare food items
- v demonstrate safe and appropriate use of equipment needed to prepare their food items
- v demonstrate an ability to adhere to standardized cleanup procedures

Week Plan
Monday/Tuesday – Recipe assigned, previewed, project/assignment work
Wednesday/Thursday – Lab day
Friday – Friday Quiz, global awareness activities, project assignment work
Letter grades will be assigned as follows:
A 86%-100%
B 73-85%
C+ 67-72%
C 60-66%

F 0-49%
